VPNBack Setup Guide

Follow the steps to complete your initial setup. If you already have an account or subscription, pick up at the relevant step.

Create an account and save your login details

Start by opening the account creation page in the VPNBack user dashboard. No email address is required—just choose a username and password. Use a username that’s easy to recognize but doesn’t reveal sensitive personal information. Set a unique password and store it in a trusted password manager. Check your details and follow the on-screen instructions to finish.

Once you’re in the dashboard, make sure you’re signed in to the account you just created before choosing a plan. You’ll use this account to check your subscription, get the client, and submit support tickets. If you already have an account, use your existing login details; there’s no need to create another account when switching devices. VPNBack supports unlimited devices, and you can set up each one separately.

For your first setup, keep the user dashboard open in a browser tab. You’ll need to switch between the dashboard and the client, and keeping the page open makes it easier to find what you need. Your password and subscription link serve different purposes: the password gets you into your account, while the subscription link gives the client its server configuration. Don’t use one in place of the other.

Choose a plan and confirm its status

Once your account is ready, open the plans section in the dashboard. Check the billing method first, then compare data allowances. Monthly subscriptions are suited to regular use: ¥9.9 / month for 60GB, ¥18 / month for 250GB, and ¥28 / month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on the activation date. Data plans don’t expire and remain available until used: ¥158 / 300GB, ¥358 / 1000GB, and ¥658 / 3000GB. The difference is how data is replenished, not how you install the client.

Before choosing, visit the pricing page to review the full details. If you use the service regularly and prefer to manage your usage monthly, compare the monthly subscriptions. If your usage varies, focus on the data plans. Don’t choose based only on how many devices you use at once—consider their combined data usage. Unlimited devices doesn’t mean unlimited data; downloads and extended video streaming use your plan’s data.

On the order page, check the selected plan, amount, and billing method, then follow the payment instructions. VPNBack supports Alipay, WeChat Pay, and USDT. After paying, return to the dashboard and check your order and plan status. Continue to the subscription only after the dashboard confirms the plan is active. If the status hasn’t updated, refresh your order history rather than creating the same order again or paying twice.

This service offers a 7-day no-questions-asked refund. If you upgrade a monthly subscription mid-cycle, the price difference is converted into remaining days. For billing or order questions, visit the Help Center or submit a ticket from the dashboard. The client steps below assume your plan is active.

Choose This Plan

Get your subscription link from the overview

Return to the account overview in the user dashboard. Check your plan status and remaining data, then find the option to copy your subscription or import it into a client. The subscription provides the client with server configuration; it isn’t a website address to open in your browser. If the dashboard offers direct import for your client, install the client first, then launch the import from here.

To add it manually, use the dashboard’s copy option to copy the full link to your clipboard. Open the client and paste it into the subscription URL or remote configuration field. Don’t paste your login password here or use the dashboard page URL as the subscription link. If you copy the link through a chat app or notes app, check that no spaces, line breaks, or punctuation were added.

Your subscription link contains account credentials, so keep it only on your own devices and in trusted clients. When asking for help, don’t show the full link in public screenshots, posts, or chat logs. The example below is a fake value provided only to show the URL format. It won’t connect and shouldn’t be imported into a client:

https://example.com/sub?token=YOUR_TOKEN

If the dashboard shows that your plan isn’t active, you’re out of data, or the subscription option is missing, resolve the account status before moving on to the client setup. Adding the same link repeatedly usually won’t fix an account status issue. Once you’ve copied the link, leave the dashboard open and get the client for your device in the next step.

Open Account Overview

Import the client for your platform

All client downloads are in the user dashboard, so there’s no need to search for installers. Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux clients are available after login; the iOS download option requires an active plan. You need to be logged in to get your subscription. The steps below point out where to find the options on common platforms; button names may vary by client version.

Get the Client

Windows: Add a subscription and choose a configuration

In the dashboard’s download section, choose the VPNBack client for Windows, install it as prompted, and open it. Go to subscription management or the configuration page, then look for an option such as “Add” or “Import from link.” Paste the subscription you copied from the account overview into the address field. If there’s a separate name field, enter a label that’s easy to recognize. Save it and refresh to make sure the server list appears.

If the dashboard’s direct import option opens the client, check the import source and confirm; there’s no need to add the same subscription manually as well. After import, make sure the configuration is selected, then open the server list. The connection toggle, system proxy toggle, and configuration selection may be in different places. Importing successfully only adds the configuration—you still need to connect in the next steps.

macOS: Allow the network configuration and check the subscription

Get the VPNBack client for macOS from the dashboard and open it after installation using the usual system steps. Go to subscription or configuration management and import the remote configuration from a link. If you use the dashboard’s direct import button, your browser may ask whether to open the client. Check that it’s the right app before continuing. After import, refresh the subscription and make sure the server names appear correctly.

The first time you connect, macOS may ask to add a network configuration or grant related permissions. Read the system prompt and grant permission only to the client you just installed. If another proxy or network connection tool is already running, pause it before connecting with this client. Running multiple tools at once can change your routing and make it harder to tell where your traffic is going.

Android: Import the link and allow the connection request

After logging in to the dashboard, get the VPNBack client for Android from the download section. Install and open it, then go to the configuration or subscription list. Use the link import option to paste and save your subscription URL, then refresh the server list. Direct import from your browser and manual pasting are two ways to add it; choose either one. You should then see the imported configuration and available servers in the client.

When you connect, Android displays a network connection permission prompt. Check the app name and allow the request. If the system says another network connection is already running, stop it before continuing. For your first connection test, keep the client open in the foreground and check that it shows a normal connection status. If it disconnects only when you switch to another app, check the system’s background activity restrictions for the client. See the Help Center for platform-specific steps.

iOS: Get and import the client through the active-plan option

With an active plan and while logged in, open the iOS option in the dashboard’s download section and follow the instructions to get the VPNBack client. Once installed, return to the dashboard and try direct import first. If the available option copies the link instead, open subscription management or the configuration page in the client, choose import from link, paste the URL, and save it. After refreshing, select the configuration you just added.

The first time you connect, iOS may ask to add a VPN configuration and grant system permission. Follow the prompts. If tapping the dashboard’s import option does nothing, make sure the client is installed and has been opened at least once, then return to the browser and try again. You can also import the link manually. If the dashboard doesn’t show an iOS download option, check that your plan is active instead of looking for installation files from unknown sources.

Connect to a route and verify access

Once the subscription has refreshed, select a server in the client and connect. For your first use, stick with one server so you can pinpoint any issues without changing the configuration, mode, and exit location at the same time. VPNBack offers 110+ countries / 240+ servers and bank-grade encryption. Available servers depend on the subscription shown in your account. To compare server types, see the server list.

Once the client shows that you’re connected, open IP Lookup to check your browser’s exit IP. The location will usually match the selected server, though geolocation databases can differ. Next, open the site or app you actually want to use. Check that it loads, you can access your account, and the features you need work. A connection icon alone doesn’t confirm that the service is accessible.

If your browser works but a particular app doesn’t, first check whether the client is using rule-based routing or global mode, and whether the app is included in the proxy rules. With rule-based routing, some websites normally connect directly, so a local site’s exit IP alone doesn’t mean the client is broken. Check the client configuration to see whether DNS is being handled as expected. A standard IP lookup can’t confirm that every app and DNS request is routed through the server.

After switching servers, close any open connections in the target app and reopen it to test again. Some apps reuse existing sessions and may not respond to a new exit location right away. To use AI tools or streaming services, you must also meet each platform’s own regional, account, and usage requirements. A working network connection doesn’t guarantee that every feature or piece of content will be available.

If it still doesn’t work, check your plan status and remaining data in the dashboard, then refresh the subscription and make sure the correct configuration is selected. Pause other network tools and try a backup server. Change one setting at a time and note what changes. To get help, use a dashboard support ticket. Include your device’s operating system, the client message, server name, and what you were doing, but hide your subscription credentials. For a more complete troubleshooting guide, visit Connection and Troubleshooting Help.

Your initial setup is complete once both the exit IP and the target app work as expected. To set up another device later, get the client for that platform from the dashboard and import your subscription. If a server isn’t working well, switch to a backup and repeat the same checks; there’s no need to start over by creating another account.
